EISCAT_3D is a project led by EISCAT Scientific Association.
EISCAT_3D is a three-dimensional imaging radar to be located in the northernmost parts of Europe. It will be making continuous measurements of the geospace environment and its coupling to the Earth's atmosphere from its location in the auroral zone at the southern edge of the northern polar vortex.

The 3rd user meeting for the EISCAT_3D project took place in Uppsala, Sweden, on 18-20 May, 2011. It focused on planning for the science of the EISCAT_3D project, emphasising atmospheric physics in particular.

EISCAT Peer-Review Programme: Call for Proposals

The EISCAT Scientific Association invites applications for observing time on the EISCAT facilities in 2011, by individual scientists, research groups, and consortia throughout the world on equal, competitive basis. This means that anyone can apply, independent of whether or not the applicant is from an EISCAT associate country.

EISCAT_3D and social networking

In our efforts of building a vibrant, international EISCAT and EISCAT_3D user community, and in order to reach out to users preferring other means of rapid communication than e-mail, we have recently taken social networking tools into use to promote EISCAT_3D, spread EISCAT-related news, and create a number of forums for discussion and outreach.

These tools are a blog, a Twitter feed and a Facebook page.

EISCAT_3D film to be shown at GeoCinema

Our information film about EISCAT_3D is part of the programme at GeoCinema during the General Assembly 2011 of the European Geosciences Union in Vienna, Austria.

The film is scheduled at 11:30 on Wednesday 6th April. Do not miss this chance to see the film in GeoCinema if you are in Vienna.

International Incoherent Scatter Radar Workshop 2011

The International Incoherent Scatter Radar Workshop was held in Kangerlussuaq, Greenland, 18-23 July 2011.

The workshop, aimed at providing participants with hands-on experience in designing and running incoherent scatter radar (ISR) experiments, was held near the Sondrestrom Research Facility, and was a collaboration between the annual AMISR summer school (the fourth of its kind) and the EISCAT radar school.
